I am an "ex!"

Just for the record--I so miss connecting with you all!  For those who don't know, my hubby owns a lawn and landscaping business.  (If you want to check out some of his projects here is his website:  GreenScapes Lawn & Landscaping, Inc.) This is a busy time of year for the company and I find myself frustrated with the lack of time to keep up with this blog and my blogger friends.  (I do try and read most of your updates, time just limits my ability to leave comments.)

Due to cancer treatment, I haven't been doing any of the manual labor for two years.  Prior to cancer, I would work my day job and mow lawns/landscape in the evenings and weekends.  Well....I am so excited to share....I'm back....here are a few pics of a recent project I was able to help with:

My hubby in thought!

Tonight as we were making preparations for a landscaping project that we will be doing tomorrow, I had shared with my husband my frustration as I am still not at full functioning for these hard work projects.  My husband stated, "I don't know many ex-cancer patients who ...."  I don't believe I have ever heard that phrase "ex-cancer."  This phrase so tickled me, as "ex" sounds so final.  Cancer is done!  Definitely something to ponder on a bit more...

Although I do love assisting and supporting my husband, I am so homesick for writing.  I continue to pray that God helps me find the time and assistance to pursue the writing dream!

Kim,
I love that phrase, 'ex cancer patient'...yep, I love it! As an EX cancer patient
myself...got to love that phrase!!! I also understand the part about not being able to help much, I work in the yard too, but sometimes my one arm will swell and I am so afraid of lymphedema...so I am a bit cautious!!!

hugs and congrats to you on being an 'ex'!!!!!!

Now, that's the kind of EX you want to be. I participated in my first Race for the Cure walk. It was very touching. Wrote about it on my blog. I hope that you'll fee less obligated to do the harder physical work, and more time to write and read.

Isn't it wonderful when you , and others, can see the daily progress whether it is large or small? These Milestones are such a wonderful feeling!! Congrats!
Thank you for keeping up with my blog and for your prayers!

Wow, happy "ex" to you! I long for the hot summer days of sunshine and warmth, but it does bring with it increased activity and decreased time for writing and blogging... I'm learning just to go with it. But you have given me hope that one day I may be able to physically lead the same life I did. I tried deep cleaning last week and my back is clearly not healed and ready yet :)

What a happy post when ex usually has such a negative connotation. :)

I am glad you are able to partner with your husband in his landscaping job, but I hope you will have time to write as well.

You are the kind of ex I like to brag about!

Kim,
I agree with Mary, this is a nice kind of 'x' to be! I know exactly what you mean about missing your old capabilities and stamina. It is frustrating isn't it? I am constantly annoyed with my new limitations, but... 'it is what it is' as they say. Write when you can! I'm trying to cut myself some slack too.

Congratulations. You both do beautiful work. Don't push yourself. You've battled death the hard way. It will take time to reach your previous level of activity, but it can happend. Wishing you all the best, Sylvia.
