I am an "ex!"

Just for the record--I so miss connecting with you all!  For those who don't know, my hubby owns a lawn and landscaping business.  (If you want to check out some of his projects here is his website:  GreenScapes Lawn & Landscaping, Inc.) This is a busy time of year for the company and I find myself frustrated with the lack of time to keep up with this blog and my blogger friends.  (I do try and read most of your updates, time just limits my ability to leave comments.)

Due to cancer treatment, I haven't been doing any of the manual labor for two years.  Prior to cancer, I would work my day job and mow lawns/landscape in the evenings and weekends.  Well....I am so excited to share....I'm back....here are a few pics of a recent project I was able to help with:

My hubby in thought!

Tonight as we were making preparations for a landscaping project that we will be doing tomorrow, I had shared with my husband my frustration as I am still not at full functioning for these hard work projects.  My husband stated, "I don't know many ex-cancer patients who ...."  I don't believe I have ever heard that phrase "ex-cancer."  This phrase so tickled me, as "ex" sounds so final.  Cancer is done!  Definitely something to ponder on a bit more...

Although I do love assisting and supporting my husband, I am so homesick for writing.  I continue to pray that God helps me find the time and assistance to pursue the writing dream!

So, there's this game of Tag going on in the blogosphere. It's cute, and Mary at Play off the Page tagged me. Mary was one of my first blogger friends and such an encouragement to me!  She keeps very busy with her boys, piano, new kitty, and writing her plays.  She loves coffee shops, too!
I'm supposed to answer some funny questions:

Do you think you're hot?

All the time, especially since I went into instant menopause last October.
Upload a picture or wall paper you are using at the moment.

This is a picture of my turkey sandwich that I had for lunch.  Don't ask me why but whenever I put mustard on my sandwich....I always make a smiley face!

The Song(s) you listened to recently?

Really haven't listened to any...in my CD player are writing CD's from recent conferences.

What were you thinking as you were doing this?

Morning is going to come very early...
Do you have nicknames?

Mom

Mommy

Grandma

Kalina's mom

Brett's mom

Kelsey's mom

Sugar Buns (from my sweetie.)

Tag eight Blogger friends.

1. Elayne

2.Hester

3. Deana

4. Vicky

5. Jennifer

6. Melissa

7. Marie

8. Nancy

Then, the rules have us jumping all around and saying something about each nominee, in random order:

Who's listed as number one?

Elayne.  She is an inspiration and I can't wait to meet her in person!
Say something about number 5.

Jennifer is a multi-published author who is an encouragement to all of us "wanna be writer's."  She also has a fun blog called Me, My Muse, and I.
How did you get to know number 3?

Deana and I met at the Colorado Christian Writers Conference.  We became fast friends and I miss her like crazy!  We spent one evening at the conference starting a blog for her...and now I see she has two awesome blogs going...great job Deana!

How about number 4?

I met Vicky through another friend, sadly because of a breast cancer diagnosis.  I have been so encouraged by Vicky's strength and courage.  I am sure Vicky would appreciate any extra prayers.  (And she lives close enough that I know our paths will cross.)
Leave a lovey-dovey message for number 2.

I love how Hester encourages other women to have a heart for God.  I also love  her devotionals.
Do numbers 7 & 8 have any similarities?

Marie and Nancy are setting bloggersville on fire with breast cancer awareness and advocacy.  They both are very encouraging and supportive to so many who find themselves on the cancer journey.

So, there you have it--a silly, little game to amuse you.  Now, I am off to catch some zzzz's...

Colorado Christian Writer's Conference

Wow, has it really been so long since I last had a blog entry? It is definitely not from lack of words to share, but more from lack of time these last few weeks. The words are swimming around…just waiting for me to get a chance to throw them out to bloggersphere.

As promised, a few words about the CCWC that I attended…let’s see…can it really be that this conference was a month ago?? To begin with I will share the conference was a life changing experience for me…and oh, how I dream of going back to the mountains.

On the first day as I was standing in line at the registration desk I questioned my sanity just a bit as I realized I was going to be spending a few nights in a dorm room with two other women I didn’t know. What was I thinking? Well, God had a great big surprise and blessing for me. Long talks into the night and early morning breakfasts created a “sister bond.” Meeting them both was definitely a highlight of the conference.

When I signed up to go to the conference, I had hoped it would help me to not only learn more on the craft of writing, publishing, etc., but also, I wanted to meet God. I wanted to hear from Him. I wanted guidance and direction and….I wanted healing!

Besides time obstacles, part of the reason in my delay on blogging about my experience, is knowing what to share and what not to share. I want to honor God by sharing the things He taught me, but some of the healing I experienced was from years of bondage and to be honest, I am still processing that portion of my experience. There will be a time to share, but not right now. I will share with you though, I did meet God on the mountain…and I experienced remarkable healing.

Regarding the writing portion of the conference:

 Many, many choices of topics and areas to explore in the writing world

 Wonderful and caring instructors and staff

 Appointments with agents, publishers, authors—beyond my expectation with their guidance, direction, encouragement and knowledge

This was a great writing conference…to not only learn the trade, but also for spiritual refreshment and encouragement.

Now, off to read what's been going on with my other blogger friends--I've missed you!!
